Well-Founded Inference and 3-Valued Logics

چکیده

We deene a simple logical semantics based on minimal models in Lukasiewicz's 3-valued logic, L 3. On normal logic programs it is equivalent to the well-founded semantics (WFS), and on disjunctive programs it is equivalent to the P-stable semantics of Eiter, Leone and Saccc a, hence to Przymusinski's 3-valued stable semantics. One advantage is that it is char-acterised by simple conditions on models in a well-known nonclassical logic and therefore provides insight into the nature of partial stable models from a logical standpoint. It also suggests why the P-stable models are a natural generalisation of WFS to the disjunctive case. In addition, the semantics is not restricted to the syntax of logic programs, but is deened for any ground theories.

Neutrosophic logics on Non-Archimedean Structures

We present a general way that allows to construct systematically analytic calculi for a large family of non-Archimedean many-valued logics: hyperrational-valued, hyperreal-valued, and p-adic valued logics characterized by a special format of semantics with an appropriate rejection of Archimedes’ axiom. These logics are built as different extensions of standard many-valued logics (namely, Lukasi...

A Well-founded Semantics for Hybrid MKNF Knowledge Bases

In [10], hybrid MKNF knowledge bases have been proposed for combining open and closed world reasoning within the logics of minimal knowledge and negation as failure ([8]). For this powerful framework, we define a three-valued semantics and provide an alternating fixpoint construction for nondisjunctive hybrid MKNF knowledge bases. We thus provide a well-founded semantics which is a sound approx...

Towards Tractable Local Closed World Reasoning for the Semantic Web

Recently, the logics of minimal knowledge and negation as failure MKNF [12] was used to introduce hybrid MKNF knowledge bases [14], a powerful formalism for combining open and closed world reasoning for the Semantic Web. We present an extension based on a new three-valued framework including an alternating fixpoint, the well-founded MKNF model. This approach, the well-founded MKNF semantics, de...

The Value of the Four Values

In his well-known paper \How computer should think" ((Be77b]) Belnap argues that four valued semantics is a very suitable setting for computerized reasoning. In this paper we vindicate this thesis by showing that the logical role that the four-valued structure has among Ginsberg's well-known bilattices is similar to the role that the two-valued algebra has among Boolean algebras. Speciically, w...

Well-Founded Semantics, Generalized

Classical fixpoint semantics for logic programs is based on the TP immediate consequence operator. The Kripke/Kleene, three-valued, semantics uses ΦP , which extends TP to Kleene’s strong three-valued logic. Both these approaches generalize to cover logic programming systems based on a wide class of logics, provided only that the underlying structure be that of a bilattice. This was presented i...
